Lednice Ponds is protected area consisting of five ponds. Four of those are formed into a system on the stream Včelínek, the biggest one is called Nesyt, followed by Hlohovecký, Prostřední and Mlýnský. The fifth one is Zámecký Pond which lies separately. Besides being protected bird area Lednice Ponds is also national nature reserve (národní přírodní rezervace, NPR), European important habitat and part of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.

This ornithologicaly significant area is home for many water birds and also it is the resting place for birds going south. Area is protected because of the presence of the greylag goose (Anser anser), the black-crowned night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax), the northern shoveler (Anas clypeata) and the red-crested pochard (Netta rufina). Amongst other bird species in this locality belong the grey heron (Ardea cinerea), the bearded reedling (Panurus biarmicus), the great reed warbler (Acrocephalus arundinaceus), the Savi's warbler (Locustella luscinioides), the white-spotted bluethroat (Luscinia svecica cyanecula), the water rail (Rallus aquaticus), the Syrian woodpecker (Dendrocopos syriacus), the Eurasian wryneck (Jynx torquilla), the barred warbler (Sylvia nisoria), the middle spotted woodpecker (Dendrocoptes medius) and many others. In this special protected bird area are also other rare species of animals and plants.

There are various possibilities for walking and cycling. Lednice Ponds is part of Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape, which is a complex on the list of monuments protected as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
